Dr. Sharon Benham is a graduate of Amherst College in Massachusetts, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in French Literature and completed her premedical requirements with an emphasis in neurobiology.  Based on her academic achievements, Amherst College awarded her the John Woodruff Simpson Fellowship for studies in Medicine.  Upon graduation, Sharon returned to her home country of Israel, where she received her Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University and subsequently practiced medicine at one of Israel’s leading hospitals, Sourasky Medical Center in Tel Aviv.

It was then that life took a turn – Sharon’s oldest son was diagnosed with Autism/P.D.D. and a seizure disorder.  Her search to help her son brought Sharon to seek the assistance of Mr. Robert Doman Jr. at the National Association for Child Development (NACD).  Admiring and appreciating NACD’s work with children with neurological challenges, in 2010 Sharon jumped at the opportunity to train at NACD’s national office in Ogden, Utah. Upon completion of her training, she continued with NACD as Director of Medical Research and Biomedical Development.  After her mother’s passing, Sharon relocated to Arizona to be near her father, but continues to serve on the NACD  Professional Advisory Committee.

Sharon’s research into therapeutic modalities that could benefit children with developmental disabilities led her to discover the work of Rudi Verspoor, FHCH, HD(RHom), DMH, and Patti Smith, FHCH, HD(RHom.), DMH, “Autism. The Journey Back, Recovering the Self Through Heilkunst.”  Heilkunst is a German word that translates to “the art (kunst) of making whole (heilen).”  After receiving Heilkunst treatment herself, and experiencing the benefits at all levels (physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual) she knew she had to delve deeper and became a student at the Hahnemann College of Heilkunst and Homeopathy.

In 2017, Sharon’s son passed away from status epilepticus. Left with the reality that conventional medicine could not heal her mother or her son, she set out on a quest for answers. Hopeful to use her life experiences to help others facing similar challenges, Sharon continued her training in the natural/alternative healthcare field.   She became certified as a Craniosacral Therapist and also received her Doctor of Heilkunst and Homeopathy.  The eternal student, she continues to further her studies at the School for Romantic Science and Healthcare.  Combining her medical training with her training in Heilkunst and Homeopathy allows Sharon to use a comprehensive system of medicine to support her patients on their journey to health.
